 A very long time ago I did an animation about a farm and we had to do everything in Maori it was hard at first when we got the hang of it we ended up doing a few hundred slides. Now I am going to so you the slide I hope you like.

science and optical illusions

 Hey, bloggers today we have been doing science and optical illusions for the science we are looking at the 5 senses we have but the one we are looking at the most is the felt sense. right now I am going to be talking about optical illusions there were 3 of them there one of them was about an elephant that looks like it has six legs but it actually has 5 legs. The next one is the dots with the dots you need to look at them for a distance to see lots of blacks moving around.`

The slogan I have made is about the shootings in Christchurch in 2019 and the shooter targeted Muslims and he went to a mosque and tried to kill all of the people that he could see and he also had 2 more friends that help him to make his plan come to life.

The day the shooting happened and my school was met to be at Friday sport are the grounds we were meant to play was right across the road and I feel so lucky that the police and the armed forces came in fast and took the man that did all of this down and now he is in jail for the rest of his life.

In the end, 51 people died and 40 people were injured, and people that lived in Christchurch will never forget the day it happened.

The wearable of the arts

For the past 8 weeks, we have been working on our wearable arts my group had 5 people me, Liam, Cooper, Ankit and Adam we were working hard at the start and we had a good idea but we could not get all of the things that we need to make it so we had to find a new idea. The new idea was to thing coming out the side of my waste and we held up by wire that I was holding in my hand I am sorry that is don't have a photo but I will try and put one up.

Freaky French

Hi, Bloggers today we had to do learn some French we had to record a saying basic conversation in French we had to say what her name is what language do you speak were from and where to say hello.

Maori

 Hi, bloggers, this week was Māori Language Week in NZ and at school, we had to make an animation that had 12 kupu. I and my good mate Liam made it together we did one on the farm and we had 3 animals in Maori we also decided to put the lyrics to lyrics to  MacDonald Had a Farm. Now I am going to show you my slide I hope you like it.

Math

This week we have been looking at adding decimals here is a little example

Let's say you have a hard math question that you need to work out in school. The question you have is 2.20 + 1.15, let’s work it out .

So when you are doing math questions like this you need to use the p.u.p rule the pup rule stands for point under point. When you start you have to add the last numbers in the decimal this is how you do it 0+5 then you would go 5+6 and last 1+2.

If you are adding a number and they make a double number you have to carry the first number and put is with the next set of numbers. When you have carried a number you have to make sure that you make it in to a double digit number if i had 5+7 and i had to carry a 1 over that would make it 15+7 then you add those together then if you are still stuck with a number over 9 you have to carry the first number over the the set and do the same thing.

If there was no colour.

 Hi, bloggers how has your lockdown been have you done some baking or have you found some new hobbies.  My school started online school yesterday we had a meeting with our home base teacher then we had to do some work from our math teacher and our reading teacher one of the things I had to do was a little story about is there was no colour in the world we had to say what we would miss and what would look wried. Now I am going to show you my little story I hope you like it.

what would you miss the most? 

The thing I would miss about the most is all the bright colours of fruits and vegetables the light blue sky and the colour of the grass and the green trees. If there was not colour you would not know what colour your clothes are you could be wearing a pink top and red pants the 2 colours do not go with each other. I think I would not be able to live without colours in the world it would be so sad. 

Aladdin

 Hi Bloggers for the past 13 weeks we have been rehearsing for our production with was Aladdin  I was picked to be Jafar the bad guy we had just done our performances last week I behind on Tuesday night and Thursday night. We had so many photos of all the cast there were some funny ones on there are some good ones of my friends and me. have you seen the movie Aladdin and who is your

 Hi, bloggers today we made a Voki about Maui and the fish we had to write a script about a video that we had to watch then we had to base the script on the video we had to be in a group of 5 people or less I was with adam and Liam. My speech

Last term we started to make our speeches on 1080 we had to talk about what 1080 does to native animals and farm livestock and also what it does to the water where it is benning dropping and what it is doing to the soil in the ground and the plants around the soil. We had to pick between  Oral speech or digital speech 

We had to write the intro first then we started to write the body of the speech I think I got to a good start in the first days of writing. Now I am going to show my speech I hope you like it,  Mabey you can comment on what you like about it.

Kia ora, today I will be talking about why 1080 should be used more in Aotearoa to kill all of the pests in New Zealand. The Department of conservation uses 1080 to kill stoats, rats, and possums because they are killing the native birds of New Zealand. There are two sides to 1080, there are people who want 1080 to be banned and there are people who want 1080 to stay in NZ. The Department of Conservation only drops 2 kgs of 1080 in one hectare, which is the same as two rugby fields next to each other. 

 

Did you know that birds are essential to our ecosystem? Our birds are pollinators, scavengers, predators, and seed dispersers. IIf the birds disappear our flowers will stop blooming and we will lose our native bush. Without the birds, the forests would be in shambles because the birds will no longer be there to pick up the twigs and other materials to make their nests. The population of insects would increase rapidly without the birds being around to consume them. Finally, as birds are seed dispersers, without them we would no longer be able to transport seeds to other areas of the forests and we would lose our native trees. Overall, birds are essential to our ecosystem 

The 1080 pallets are just bigger than two 2 dollars and they only weigh 1.3kg. 1080 is centred with cinnamon because the pests enjoy the smell of cinnamon so they will be attracted to the 1080 so they will eat it. 1080 takes time to kill the pests it will take almost 24 houses to kill the pests. The green colour on the 1080 pallets will blend into the native bush of New Zealand

I think that the Department of Conservation should be dispersed in bigger loads to stop the pests killing our native birds there are more pests in New Zealand than ever before so that means more birds has a bigger chance of dying from pests. 

1080 is very cheap and efficient for one drop 2kgs costs $12 to $16 dollars for one hectare that is not expensive say if we used traps that would be 507 million dollars that’s a lot of money. That money is coming from the people in NZ if we used traps there would be no money for the community and schools. 1080 pallets are made out of sodium fluoroacetate is used in 1080. Sodium fluoroacetate is also used to make plastic that is weird that 1080 has plastic in it I did not know that. 1080 is a biodegradable poison so when the Department of Conservation drops it and no pests eat, it will degrade into the soil. Let’s say if the Department of Conservation drops some bait into water then we drink it the poison will not affect humans because 1080 has the same Fluorescence as black tea.

I think the Department of Conservation should be dispersing more than 1080 baits because there is a rapid increase in all types of pests. The Department of Conservation said that 1080 kill 95% of possums that is 28.5mil of the 30mil possums in NZ so there is still 2.5mil possums and babies are being $16 born every day and 2kgs of 1080 per hectare. And they don’t drop them that much which is not enough for the rapid increase of pests in NZ. In conclusion, we should be using more 1080 because it is fast and it has a positive effect on the pests of Aotearoa. By being cheap and efficient it works without a big cost. Because if we were using traps then there would not be money for other things, such as sports facilities and community playgrounds. We could build enclosures for the birds because we have spare money by using the cheaper 1080, so there would be no pests in their habitats. With the enclosures, the birds will be able to make the ecosystem better than ever before. With my statements, I hope you have changed your mind about 1080. I want you to see what I see the birds flying freely the birds chirping loud and people able to see all of the native birds of NZ

 

Matariki kites

 Happy Matariki everyone! 

On the 2 July we celebrated the Māori New Year, a time to consider the year ahead. The days are starting to lengthen and spring will soon be here, we just need to get through this cold winter first! 

Matariki and the Pleiades star cluster, have got many stories attached to them. We looked at two; one about how Ranginui and Papatuanuku were separated by Tāne Mahuta, and how Tāwhirimatea was so angry he ripped out his eyes and threw thunderbolts to the sky, creating the cluster, and another story about 7 sisters making kites, and them going to the sky. Ururangi’s kite was different from the rest, it was rainbow coloured. We have mixed these two stories to create the design of our kites.

My kite has Tawhirimatea and the wind represented with the clouds. I then coloured it in as a rainbow.

What stories have you heard about Matariki?

  This week at maths we have been doing baking and measurements me and my group made Hokey Pokey with melted chocolate on top the melted chocolate went bad we put too much chocolate on top. Now I am going to show you my slide I hope you like it.

Matariki art work

Hi bloggers last week we did an artwork about the Maori New Year or Matariki we had to do a draft copy of what our are work would look like on a piece of paper with a pencil then we were allowed to get a piece of foam then we had to copy our draft onto the farm with a ballpoint pen so it would put an indent into the foam so the ink would not go into the indent so you can see the Matariki stars and the Mountains at the bottom of the foam. 

I drew the stars with wiggle lines around them and they all connected to at least one star on my artwork. I try to draw Mt Cook because that is my Maunga. when we had to draw on the foam we had to draw it reversed it because if we did it the right way on the foam then we put the ink on it would be the wrong way so if you do this artwork you need to do the stars in reverse.

The kiwi and moa

 Hey bloggers this week in reading we have looking at birds and how they adaptations we look at behavioural structural and physiological. In the work that we had to do is that we had to find the differences between the Kiwi and the Moa we had to see what their differences were and what they have in common here is my work I hope you like it

 Hey, bloggers. Threw out literacy this term we have been working on a sire about the Holocaust and what happened in those times. We have also been reading a book called Once by Morris Gleitzman. It is about a boy named Felix how is in an orphanage because his mum dad but him is there so he could be safe and not get captured by the Nazis and taken to a concentration camp. He was there for 3 years then he wanted to leave and try to find his mum and dad. He has a big imagination and he uses it to think of good things when he sees bad and awesome things.

There were lots of feelings in the book Once there was Fear, emotion, imagination, racism like when Hitler was going around and taking all the Jewish people and taking them to the concentration camps or kill them in open fields in big groups. Some of the Jewish people were taking the camps and but in gas chambers in mass groups and but a gas named Zyklon B and after they died they would take the body and just thorough them away. 

The theme of my site is all about concentration camps, World war 2 and what Hitler did to the Jews. The concentration camps were built before the war so they did not need to build the camps in road conditions and it would be a lot easy to take the Jewish people to the camps in big groups. 

On my site, I made a connection with Heinrich Himmler who was one of the people that gave Hitler permission to execute all the jews and he was one of the main people that gave Hitler permission to put all the Jewish people into gas chambers and kill them. now I am going to show you my site I hope you enjoy it.

Yanny or Laurel

Hey, Bloggers today in reading we looked at the Yanny and Laurel video. If you don't know what it is, it is a piece of audio that you could hear Yanny or Laurel. Some people could hear both or just one of them. The class did a vote to see what we all heard. Most people heard Yanny. There is also a big debate. It is like Yannay and Laurel.  Green Needle and Brainstorm are very similar to Yanny and Laurel, because they play the frequencies overlapping each other. 

 Not many people heard Laurel. I think it is about the high and low frequencies for each one. Older adults tend to start losing their hearing at the higher frequency ranges. People also hear different ones. Old people hear the low-frequency which is Laurel and young people hear the high-frequency one which is Yanny.

Camp 2021

The thing I like the most about coasteering was the mud on the way down to the beach and max keep falling on me and when we got to go the rocks. And we adam slip On The Rocks.

Then we had high ropes was like rock climbing but with no rocks but there was wood to climb on and then we had to climb. this is my animation about coasteering I hope you like it.
